What to Bring for In-House Auto Financing in Houston

Walk in prepared—not overwhelmed. This visit-ready guide shows the identification, proof of income, proof of residence, down-payment information, and supporting records commonly requested by EZ Keys Smart Choice.

Documents help the review move efficiently, but they do not guarantee approval, a vehicle, or specific financing terms.

THE CORE FOUR ID · Income · Residence · Down payment

One organized visit kit

Bring these four items to your financing appointment

Use current, complete, readable records. The examples below cover common document types, but acceptable formats and recency requirements vary by program. Call Jay before a long drive if anything is unusual.

01

Government-issued photo ID

Bring a current, readable photo identification document. Possible examples include a driver license, state ID card, passport or passport card, permanent resident card, employment authorization card, military ID, or another accepted government-issued photo ID.

Acceptance, expiration, and address requirements vary. Confirm unfamiliar or foreign-issued documents before traveling.
02

Proof of income

Bring records that clearly show the income source, amount, dates, and consistency. The best documents depend on whether you are employed, self-employed, receive benefits, perform gig work, or use another verifiable source.

03

Proof of residence

Prepare a recent document showing your full name and current residential address. It should match the application or be supported by a clear explanation and additional records.

04

Available down payment

Know what you can responsibly make available without assuming one advertised amount fits every application or vehicle. Confirm the reviewed amount and accepted payment method before your appointment.

Proof of income examples

Prepare documents for the way you earn income

Use records that are recent, complete, and easy to connect to you. A cropped screenshot without a name, date, income source, or full transaction detail may not be enough for review.

01

Hourly or salaried employment

Recent pay stubs, direct-deposit bank records, employer earnings statements, or employment verification may help. Bring enough history to show regular earnings, and make sure the employer name matches the application.

02

New employment

A recent pay stub, signed offer letter, start-date confirmation, or employer verification may be requested. Call before visiting if you have not received your first complete pay record.

03

Self-employed income

Personal and business bank statements, tax returns, 1099s, profit-and-loss records, invoices, payment-processor history, business licenses, or other requested records may help verify current earnings.

04

Gig or contract work

Platform earnings summaries, 1099s, bank deposits, trip or delivery statements, and tax records may help show income patterns. Download full statements rather than relying only on a dashboard total.

05

Benefits, retirement, or pension

Current Social Security, disability, VA, pension, retirement, or other award letters—along with matching bank deposits when available—may be useful. Program treatment varies.

06

Other verifiable income

Court orders, official support documentation, rental records, settlement statements, or other consistent income evidence may be considered by some programs. Ask which source and history are acceptable.

Paid in cash?

Cash alone may not establish income. Ask whether employer verification, consistent bank deposits, tax records, receipts, or another documented earnings history can be used before your appointment.

Proof of residence examples

Show your current residential address clearly

Bring a complete, recent record with your name and residential address. The strongest document is one that is easy to read, matches the application, and comes from a recognizable source.

Housing records

Lease, rental agreement, mortgage statement, property-tax record, or another current housing document.

Household bills

Electric, gas, water, internet, cable, or another accepted utility statement with your current address.

Financial statements

Recent bank, credit-union, insurance, or credit-card statements may help when they show the complete name and address.

Official records

Government correspondence, benefit letters, voter records, vehicle registration, or another accepted official document.

If you recently moved

Bring the new housing record plus prior records or an explanation if your ID, application, and current address do not yet match.

Down payment preparation

Bring an available contribution you understand

Ask whether the dealership can accept debit card, cashier’s check, money order, electronic transfer, cash, or another method. Confirm any limits or verification steps before bringing funds. Never assume a headline amount is your final requirement.

If you plan to trade a vehicle, positive trade equity may count toward the total contribution. A payoff greater than the trade value can reduce that equity or change the structure that must be reviewed.

When they apply

Bring supporting records that complete the story

The core four are the starting point. These additional records can prevent delays when your application, trade, insurance plan, or identity details need more context.

Trading in a vehicle

Bring the title or ownership record, registration, current payoff information, lienholder contact, all keys, and identification for every titled owner who may need to participate.

Insurance planning

Have current insurance information and a way to contact your agent. Final coverage requirements depend on the selected vehicle and written financing agreement.

Co-applicant information

When another applicant participates, that person should bring the same identity, income, and residence documents and be available for required signatures and verification.

Name or address differences

Bring supporting documents for a legal name change, recent move, temporary address, or another mismatch between the application and current records.

Requested references

If references are requested, prepare accurate names, phone numbers, relationships, and current contact details. Do not invent information to complete a field.

Follow-up requests

Bring any employer contact, additional bank history, tax record, benefit verification, explanation, or other document the team specifically asked to review.

A five-minute final check

Review this list the day before your appointment

A quick confirmation can save a second trip. Use this sequence after you submit the application and before you leave for the Northwest Freeway location.

1

Confirm the time

Check your appointment confirmation and call if your arrival time changes.

2

Confirm vehicle flexibility

Review current inventory and keep two or three acceptable vehicle types in mind.

3

Open every document

Make sure each file or paper is readable, current, complete, and connected to you.

4

Confirm available funds

Verify the reviewed contribution and accepted payment method before carrying money.

5

Call about anything unusual

Jay can help you identify a possible alternative before you make the trip.

Important distinction

No traditional credit check does not mean no review

Some qualifying in-house programs may not require a traditional credit check. Identity, income, residence, affordability, down payment, vehicle eligibility, and other information can still require review and verification.

Clear answers before you travel

What-to-bring frequently asked questions

How recent should my documents be?

Use the newest complete records available. Exact age limits differ by program, so call 346-932-1615 if a statement, award letter, or pay record is not recent.

Can I show documents on my phone?

Digital records may be useful if they are complete, readable, and show your name, source, dates, and relevant details. Make sure you can sign in or download the file at the dealership; acceptance varies.

What if I do not have a utility bill in my name?

A lease, mortgage statement, bank statement, insurance document, government letter, or another accepted record may work. Call before your appointment to confirm an alternative.

What if I am paid in cash?

Cash by itself may not establish income. Ask whether employer verification, consistent bank deposits, tax records, or another form of documented earnings history can be used.

Can benefit income be considered?

Some programs may consider verifiable Social Security, disability, pension, retirement, VA, or other benefit income. Bring a current official record and matching deposits when available.

Do I need a Social Security number?

Requirements differ by program. Do not assume one answer applies to every option. Ask Jay which identification and taxpayer information the specific program requires.

How much down payment should I bring?

There is no single amount for every applicant or vehicle. Bring only what is genuinely available and confirm the reviewed amount and accepted payment method before the appointment.

Does bringing every document guarantee approval?

No. Complete documents can help the review proceed, but approval, vehicle availability, down payment, APR, term, payment, and other conditions remain subject to review and verification.
